Bike park isn’t a bike park without stunts for the novice to expert.
You NEED A Foam Pit!
Its not complete with out a Trials section!!
i think every awesome bike park have a big 4 sided box jump,(hips both ways), and a step up booter possible resi ramp landing for learning mad tricks, but from what ive read it sounds like you guys are gunna incorperate pretty much everything so i just wanted to say thanks cuz now i have somwhere to ride all winter, keep it stoked
box jumps!! indoor dirt section maybe?
I’m a dirt jumper so I like rhythm. perhaps some box jumps
in a row or even step-ups in a row. pretty sure I’ll be trying
to gap those pump track rollers too!
half pipe !! andd some nice box jumps!!!
co-ed showers and a jello pit.
For years i’ve been a free rider/dirt jumper
but never had and Wow facters with anythin i did
I think a FOAM PIT would be freakin amazing!
A bike park must have a progression from novice to intermediate to advanced features.
A resi ramp and big dirtjumps
A discombobulator, I love teeter-totters.
I’d say some not too high skinnies for people getting their balance figured out.
Well..
Since you asked. I’ve always hoped the new Park would be more XC oriented. I am looking for a continuous loop that goes around the entire park. 2-5 minutes to complete. Beats doing loops in your basement in February. Not so interested in the jumps or booters /foam pit for the teenage set. Again after seeing videos of this feature, it’s hard to let go of.
FOAM PIT BABY!!!
An indoor bike park is not complete without a photo id card…and the ability for a 16/17 year old to enter via parents signing a wavier at home….which is the reason i cant go to cj’s haha…
I would have to say some jumps made of dirt somewhere, I like wood ramps but I like dirt jumps just as much !
A bike park is not complete without a foam pit
deffinatley a foam pit/ dirt jumps. and tricky boxes/hips and transfers
a small bowl for practicing stuff
+1
for an XC loop.
Need a place to ride in the winter.
Not really into jumps etc.
Too old and brittle for that.
FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT FOAMPIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! absolute must-have!
i would really like to see some indoor dirt jumps! and you gota have a killer step up! thanks
You must have dirt jumps, foam pits, and more dirt jumps!!!!!!!! DIRT JUMPS!
I think a bike park should also have some dh stuff like drops, skinnies, maybe some teeter totters, rock gardens, etc.
Any dh type stuff for winter would be sick!
I was going to suggest foam pit, but I can see that you’re already planning one!
After that, I’d suggest “A bike park must have ___spare tubes for sale___”
I think the FOAMPIT should be BIG enough so that you can BOOST as HIGH or FAR and not have to FEAR that you will get your LIMBS CHOPPED off. Cross country with lots of elevation if possible.. Safety issues there, but it would make a lot of older people happy. 4x race track area + dual slalom course! A half pipe with high copings and wide enough so that you wont be scared to boost!
A boxjump style dirtjump loop would be killer. all diffrent types of jumps.. mellow 2 mellow and long, steep and short w a tall ass stepup landing, hips. maker like a good set of trails.
To be honest, I think some of those corner/berms that you have are WAY too low. Unless you guys are going to put grip tape or tough sanding paper there, it’s not gonna work out for the pro/faster people..
to cater to every riding category. whether its a few drops, a few box jumps, or even a small dirt room, make it happen. trials, and all. and quality built stuff. nothing thats falling apart. and a place to chill, for people who have payed foe entrance already.
you need hip to berm to hip to berm and super flowy stuff. maybe some step ups to step downs and some real drops.
Werd. This park sounds legit. I think a park really needs everything for novice to epert and lots of Comps and deals etc.
FOAM PIT FOR SURE!!!!
Put one of these in the park and it will be the highlight http://www.pinkbike.com/video/61506/ just an idea.
dirt jumps – one row made from dirt
easy row and harder row
My kind of bike park has a pump track. Yeah baby!
Since I’m no biker I’d say you gotta have coffee – good coffee – maybe even lattes!!
I forgot
Would love to see log-overs or rock gardens. All nice and neat and boxed in. If these were part of an XC loop it would make it that much more interesting. As well elevation would be great, but the building is not super high so we need to keep expectations in check.
Equipment rentals – like pads and helmuts – in case you want to try something new and aren’t equipped.
i think a bikepark has to appeal to every type of rider. this is where the skatepark styled ones are missing out. there has to be reason to bring a bike other then a street/dj or BMX bike. so people can bring everything from a DH bike to a XC bike and find fun things to ride and not feel “out of place” like you would if you showed up to a skatepark on your XC bike.
After seeing a few parks here is what I think
1) Foam pit…2 foam pits..everyone loves foam pits make em big or there is really no point
2) XC track? good idea on paper, bad idea in the real world. gets boring fast..real fast. The only guys that would ride it more then 5 times are the same guys who have fun on the exercise bike…so you could just get a few exercise bikes with some tv’s instead.
3) To help promote your park it is best to have courses designed with events in mind..events $$$..where can people watch from? what kind of events will the facility hold bla bla bla
4) instead of just mixing up all the jumps have different sections for abilities so the newbys don’t get decapitated.
5) Keep in mind BMX is kinda dead so jumps aimed at longer wheelbase/larger wheel bikes would be a good idea.
6) Lots of dirt jumps, I prefer falling on dirt and it looks nice to!
7)platforms for go-go dancers to help support the riders and something to look at when I’m not riding… I go bigger when the chicks are around..yes I mean this in more then one way.
8)as for jumps and pumps and all that jazz I cant give my opinion without seeing the space.
9) have an area at the door to wash off bikes so wet dirty winter covered bikes dont make the park slippery.
10) I could go on all day..there was a time when I wanted to build my own. Good luck with the park. Hope to ride there soon.
box jumps, huge rhythm section – ability to hold pumps races for prizes! WOO HOO, clean washrooms, TVs for parents, wireless internet access, comfy parents room, healthy snacks, heat, NO smoking inside, helmets mandtory, make it parent friendly so they wont mind being there all day while thekids ride.
resi ramp…. most of these kids probably dont know what a resi ramp is, but once they do, they will love it more than a foam pit
A bike park isn’t a bike park without something for every type of riding, lots of flowy DJ’s (obviously not dirt) in different sizes (small medium and large), a foam pit and a resi jump.
K, alot of people say foampit, which is great, but only if you have extra room to spare. I ride at Industry all the time where there’s a foam pit, and while its fun, its not really “multiple person” friendly. Spare room, go for it. Not much room, pack in some fun features that make the park flow.
As for features, build them into lines. rollers, s-burms, fly outs, hips. like a little track to pump through and throw some style at the same time. could even throw a freelap system onto it to get some competative time trials going.
Last idea, maybe a rough dh-type training loop. obviously were are lacking verticle, but you can still make something good. dont just figure “oh mtn bike loop”, and build a 2 foot drop off. obviously there cant be hucks, so build something challenging. put some rock gardens, build little rough features out of 2x4s that simulate roots and rock. something like that.
A bike shop with extra parts and of coarse bikes would help alot. A little slope style section would be sick with some shore lines too. Don’t forget dirt jumps thos are needed for sure!
The answer is easy! A FOAM PIT!!! Yeah that would rule. I dont think from central to the east coast of Canada there is one. That would be so rad!

Oh a really good spot for beginners too just in case I wanna bring some friends or the wife to make sure their day is fun too.
Access to outside.
Three ways I can think of:
1. Sky lights love natural light and at night you would light up the surroundings.
2. Access to the roof (on and off). This would give more climbing options.
3. Access to ground level in and out of the building. Combined with an out side ramp to the roof and option 2. You have a really cool climbing and descending options.
Ultimately multi stories. When you are rolling in money because the park will be so successful you can and more floors. Think of the indoor out door possibilities then.

hey,the park is looking great! i’ll be sure to bring my bike when i come visit next summer.
Wow. That hamster wheel is sick.
Given that people are being so whiny about the brakeless thing, it would be worth stocking inexpensive brakes and offering free installation.
Yuhin posted good links on your Facebook site.

Also, a good bike park should have clinics for the noobs. I’d love to learn how to jump! But if left without any instruction, I’ll probably stick mostly to the XC, pump track and technical lines. Which, hey – FUN!
